Top Ten Tuesday

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Over at The Broke and the Bookish the theme of the day is Top Ten Books If You Are In The Mood For…(they went with Sci Fi, it’s a pretty good list so make sure you check it out!).   For my list I’ve decided to go with a Top Ten Books If You Are In The Mood For Something A Little Different!

This book is great when you need a break from actual studying, its filled with very wrong (but pretty funny) answers people have given on test.

This history fiction written in verse very different from anything I’ve read before but I’m so glad I did read it.  When you are in the mood for something new try this book.

This whole series is a little bit different and a whole lot of good!

Leaping into the new week!

leap day

Yes that title is cheesy but come on we only get to make leap day jokes once every 4 years so I had to do it.  Oh and I can’t forget to wish all those Leap Day babies a Happy Birthday!  You deserve 4 years worth of cake…

(Side note: I so want a Harry Potter themed cake for my next birthday!)  Tomorrow I’ll be posting a new Top Ten Tuesday, Wednesday a Book Spotlight!, and Friday a fun filled Fun Fact Friday!  Busy week planned so make sure you check back often!

Fun Fact Friday!

SOOOO SORRY!! I know it has been a while since I posted.  Unfortunately we have had some particularly nasty weather down here that has messing up my work schedule.   But hey it’s Friday and I think it is about time we brought back everyone’s favorite Fun Fact Friday!  Today’s Fun Fact is…

Yup it is a real place.  With an official Wikipedia page too.  How odd.

Check back next week when I will be doing a Book Spotlight! on The Program by Suzanne Young.  Be safe this weekend!

Book Spotlight!

Today’s Book Spotlight! is on a book of poems call Poisoned Apples: Poems for You, My Pretty by Christine Heppermann

poisoned_apples_heppermann This collection of 50 poems blend fantasy with reality.  Christine takes equally from fairy tails and everyday life to fill the book with haunting poems about unseen side of beauty and perfection.  The Ugly Stepsister talks about how it feels to be the one left behind, the formerly Ugly Duckling wonders if being beautiful is really an improvement, and Little Miss Muffet’s diet plan is scary but all to real in today’s world. This book is short but not sweet, disturbing but fascinating.  This is a great read regardless of if you are a poetry fan or not.  Highly recommend for high school age teens.  To request this or anything else in our collection click here.

NOvember Week 4 Book Review

Week 3 Book:  Deathnote

Reason I said no before:  Just not really into Manga very much.

Did this book change my mind?  Yes!  I can see why it is a Manga classic.  So far I’ve read the first 3 in the series and plan to read more.  It is dark but in a good way that makes sense with the books.  I still don’t really know how to find more Manga that I will enjoy.  I think I need to learn more about the different types within the genre.  Leave a comment letting me know what your favorites are!
