Happy last day of summer everyone! Tomorrow officially starts fall so over at The Broke and the Bookish the did a Top Ten Books on their Fall To Be Read list. For me I decided I would go bug the wonderful ladies who work in the cataloging department and see what new books have come in recently. So click below to see my Top Five Books Recently Acquired by West Baton Rouge Public Library!
Becoming Maria by Sonia Manzano: A nonfiction about the woman who would become famous playing Maria on Sesame Street and her turbulent life growing up in the South Bronx.
Everything, everything by Nicola Yoon: This debut novel is about a girl who is literally allergic to the world. Confined to her house she knows it won’t end well when she starts falling for the new boy next door.
The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie: I’m very interested in seeing how they turn a YouTube series into a book.
Ink and Bone: the Great Library by Rachel Caine: What if the great Library of Alexandra survived instead of burning, becoming the greatest source of knowledge the world? Oh and owning books became illegal. Sounds like an interesting read to me!
Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone: I’m always on the look out for books that deal with mental illness and this one sounds fascinating. The main character may look all the other popular girls at her school but mentally she is dealing a never ending loop of worries and dark thoughts due to having Purely-Obsessional OCD. (Remember I haven’t read it yet so i’m not sure how well the subject of OCD is dealt with but this is high on my TBR list)
