Port Allen and Brusly High Schools were the recipients of 2015 Louisiana Teen Reader’s Choice Book Set Grant. The West Baton Rouge Parish Library applied for the grant on behalf of both of the schools. Here, master teacher, Tara Hebert, accepts the award for the Port Allen High.
The grant was made possible from donations from the Louisiana Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., PermaBound, and the Louisiana Library and Book Festival Foundation. The grant is intended to encourage public libraries and their local high schools to partner in projects designed to motivate high school students to read the nominated books and vote in January in a statewide election for their favorite book using voting machines provided by the Secretary of State’s Office.
The author of the book receiving the most votes is invited to accept the Louisiana Teen Reader’s Choice medal at an award ceremony in the State Capital during the 2015 Louisiana Book Festival next fall. Don’t forget to vote for the book you want to win here.
