This past Tuesday night, the Teen Scene Advisory Board met again to pick a new design for the teen area of the West Baton Rouge Parish Library. At the last meeting, art students from both Brusly and Port Allen high schools picked a color scheme for the space and this week, they decided how exactly it would be implemented.
Ms. Janeece Fonts, the art teacher at Port Allen High School drafted up a drawing of the teen area as it is now and the students used colored pencils in the shades of the paint swatches they chose in order to see how they might want to arrange the colors.
When they’d all finished designing the area, the teens looked at all of the designs and voted on which one they liked best.
Pictured are Phillip Bessix, Louis Cador, Trevor Hopkins, Leo Gaspar, Jacqueline Begue, and Sydni Tibbitts with the winning design.
The design was by Port Allen student Jason Wade and modified by the rest of the students. It features bright green walls and orange shelves with a design on the ceiling that features quotes from the teen’s favorite books.
Here is Jason working on the winning design.
The teen space at the West Baton Rouge Library might be noisy in the next few weeks as we empty the shelves and begin painting. Keep an eye out in the library and here on this blog for updates!
